Gen6 Series Race #1: Hartwell Takes the Checkered Flag in Atlanta Thriller




The roar of the engines, the smell of burning rubber, and the thrill of high-speed competition – that's what the Gen6 Series is all about! Our first race of Season 1 at Atlanta Motor Speedway's Oval 2008 track was nothing short of a heart-pounding spectacle. In case you missed it, here's a recap of all the action and drama that unfolded on the asphalt.


Race Day Overview


The stage was set on September 6, 2023, at 6:30 PM sharp, with the sun setting, casting dramatic shadows over the track. The temperature soared to 88°F, with a steady breeze from the northwest at 9 MPH. Partly cloudy skies provided an ideal backdrop for the racing action.


Qualifying Round


Qualifying set the tone for the evening as Joe Wewer secured pole position, with Greg Wood hot on his heels. The top drivers showcased their skills, setting the stage for a thrilling contest.


The Race Unleashed



As the green flag dropped, the field thundered into action, with Brandon Hartwell quickly making his intentions clear. Hartwell, driving Car #25, emerged as the frontrunner, displaying exceptional control and precision. The battle for supremacy was fierce, with Kyle Munson (#40), Larry Blair II (#73), and Paul Pelissier (#77) hot on Hartwell's tail.



The race featured a total of 7 cautions, spanning 28 caution laps, adding an extra layer of intensity to the proceedings. Lead changes occurred 11 times, showcasing the fierce competition among our Gen6 racers.


Hartwell Triumphs


In the end, it was Brandon Hartwell who emerged victorious, taking the checkered flag after completing 126 laps. He showcased his remarkable consistency with an average lap time of 42.649 seconds, and his fastest lap clocked in at 30.935 seconds.


Points and Standings


Brandon Hartwell's stellar performance earned him 40 points for the race, putting him in the lead in the points standings. Kyle Munson secured the second spot, earning 35 points, while Larry Blair II rounded out the top three with 34 points.
